Good Visit With David Today...
It was good to
have a day off again and be able to spend most of it with David. I always
try and get there early so that I can get a good parking space in the
parking garage. My "new" Sunday routine is to have breakfast in the hospital
cafeteria and then work on my sweepstakes entries in the family waiting room
on the 5th floor.
They had David
sitting up in a chair today. Boy, does he HATE that chair! The hard part is
the fact that he has no muscle control and then add that to the fact that he
really isn't comfortable with 10 drains and tubes coming out of him! He
amazes me everyday that he has such a strong will to survive. He got a
little nasty with his nurse Matt yesterday, but that may be a good thing
because that means that he is at least feeling something again! We tried to
watch The Blues Brother on his TV today. He drifted in and out from being
alert to going to sleep in his chair with his don't bother me today look! He
was giving Matt a hard time with following as we call them, suggestions
today. I really think he just wanted to be left alone today and was tired of
people asking him to do all of this crap...LOL!
I was watching
another patient walking laps around the floor today and was thinking to
myself, how wonderful that will be when David is at that point! He will
probably remain open for another 3-4 weeks now! The doctors want to make
sure that all of the infection is gone because they can only skin graft him
once to close him up! I paid for another two weeks of TV today...so once
again my heartfelt thanks to everyone who sent a dollar or two for David's
TV...it's become his only lifeline right now! Matt said yesterday, he was
even changing the channels :o)
