05/12/04 - Terry Brown Took David To Surgery This Morning - Part 1 I don't have alot of details but two of his doctors called me this morning to get a verbal consent to take David back to the OR. They suspect that there are at least three maybe more pockets of fluid somewhere in David's abdomen that are not draining and may be the source of his secondary infection. They are doing a procedure with the assistance of the Radiologists to use a CT to try and locate these pockets of fluid and then guide drains into them so that hopefully, they can get them drained off and this infection will clear up. I have been sitting by the phone all afternoon waiting for a call back from one of his doctors. Today was my day off and I was trying to get some things done around the house today. I'll be back at the hospital tomorrow. If I find out more later today, I'll post again under this same thread. Terry |

Took David To Surgery This Morning - Part 2
I got tired of waiting on someone from the hospital to call me last night so at my wit's end, Rachel and I decided to drive to the hospital for the one hour visiting hour from 8:00-9:00PM. He was resting and seemed so weak and frail. It just breaks my heart to see him like that. I bet he has lost a good 30-40 pounds...not exactly the way that I would have wanted him to lose wait. Anyway, he was kinda watching his TV in between dozing off to sleep. I think yesterday just took alot out of him again.
They found the pockets of pus and he now has four "new" drains that they piggybacked onto his other abdominal drains. Hopefully, these pockets will drain completely out and he will once again beat this thing! I decided to call-in today at work...I'm just so mentally and physically exhausted that I told Rachel that Mom needed a "mental health" day :o). So I'm washing clothes, cleaning the house which has been badly neglected and trying to put my house back into some sense of order...LOL! I may even work on some sweepstakes entries later today and decorate some envelopes. Thanks for everything...your cards, your thoughts and prayers...they really mean alot to me.
