Not A Good Day For David...

David had a pretty rough day today. He has been very agitated all day and kicking off covers and trying to pull his IV lines and tubes out. I'm not sure what is going through his mind right now...I can only imagine! I'm printing out e-mails and replies from the board. I read a lot of them today, not sure if he will remember any of this. I have been so overwhelmed by phone calls, and e-mails that I just want everyone to know that there is no way that I can personally respond to everyone. With Sandy's permission of course, I would like to be able to just come here everyday or so and report on David's progress. Just one place where everyone would be able to stay updated on David.

As of today, they have given him over 40 units of blood. He is still losing alot of blood and just can't seem to keep that under control! Tomorrow, he will go back to the OR for surgery #3. I plan on being there most of the day tomorrow. His Shock Trauma staff are taking wonderful care of him. He has two nurses and two doctors assigned to him.

While waiting in the Family Waiting Room before Visiting Hours I had an idea of something that I could do for David and something that would be therapeutic for me as well. I think that I am going to put together a scrapbook for him, something that I can put all of your wonderful e-mails and cards in. Then, when he is able to walk around again, and able to sit up in bed it will let him know just how many people prayed for him, burned "blue" candles for him and just wished him a speedy recovery.

On top of David's agitated state today, the police still have no leads in this case. Rachel and I went to the CID Headquarters this morning to give statements. The detectives are kicking around a theory that it may be related to some type of gang initiation. How sad, that someone would have to shoot/kill someone to be accepted into a gang...I just can't fathom any of this!

On a lighter note, while going through some of David's papers last night looking for his insurance information I found this...a Guardian Angel auto visor clip...it's a silver angel that says: "Never drive faster than your Guardian Angel can fly!" Seeing this just brought back that mental image of David driving himself home after the shooting to call 911...guess, it's going in my car now!!! I think there may be some divine intervention here.

Keep David in your prayers tonight for his surgery tomorrow. Rachel and I did a little shopping tonight on the way home...we found some "blue" bunnies to take to him on Easter Sunday...Rachel thought they would brighten his trauma room, plus she remembered about the "blue" candles on the board and she said, "Mom they have to be "blue" bunnies"...I've got to try and catch up on some postcard orders later tonight and then make a few phone calls...oh, I almost forgot a reporter from Channel 11 called me tonight...they are going to air a short story on David on tonight's 11:00PM news asking for any leads on the shooting.

Till later...Terry
